FIFA World Cup 2022

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will be hosted by Qatar, and is scheduled to take place from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Middle East, and the first in a Muslim-majority country.

The tournament will involve 32 national teams, including that of the host nation, assuming the current format of the finals is maintained. It will be the first World Cup to be held entirely under FIFA’s new expanded format, which features an increase from 32 teams to 48 teams.

The final tournament will be played in eight stadiums located in seven host cities around Qatar. The final will be held at the 80,000-seat Lusail Iconic Stadium in Doha.

The tournament will be the last one to be held on the current eight-year cycle, and its scheduling will be the subject of a variety of factors, including international fixtures, club tournaments, player availability and other variables.
